What belongs in a building Golden Thread?
A Golden Thread is not a folder full of PDFs. It is a permanent, structured and understandable record of the building and the evidence behind its safety and compliance.
A report must show its basis
The useful output is not a document dump. It is a position at a stated date, the duties considered, the evidence relied on, the exceptions and the legal basis supporting the record.
Information needs context
A certificate has limited value if nobody can tell which asset it covers, which duty it evidences, who published it, when it became effective or whether later evidence superseded it.
The record must preserve change
A useful Golden Thread contains asset identity, responsible people, applicable duties, service events, evidence, decisions, conditions, faults, documents and open actions. Published history should be append-only so the story cannot be silently rewritten.
What a useful report should show
A report should state its scope and prepared date, summarise the current duty position, expose exceptions, list the evidence relied on and show the legal basis. A folder of certificates cannot do that on its own.
Who may ask for it
Auditors, insurers, lenders, purchasers, licensing authorities and clients may all ask for evidence. The useful record is the one already in order before that request arrives.
